How do we treat Plantar Fasciitis?

Ice or Heat? Exercise it or Rest it?

Do we buy special shoes? Specially made inserts or Orthotics to put inside shoes?

How about a Hydrocortisone injection?

 What is it?

In technical terms, Plantar Fasciitis is an inflammation of the aponeurosis of the foot, a strong sheet of connective tissues that attach from the back of the heel spreading out under the sole and toes. It’s like a lining that stretches between the skin and the muscles.

But why does it get inflamed?  

The area gets irritated and causes friction when we improperly support the weight of the joints and foot strike incorrectly from the heel-ball-toe connection. Most of the time they blame worn shoes or poor running. The truth is that the friction will be present even with brand-new shoes.

What can we do?

We need to get the foot, knee, and hip Biomechanics working together the right way to change dysfunction. Increasing the level of activity will not solve it, it will only generate more friction causing less and less mobility.

Solution:

Pain Free at Sea uses the Egoscue Method exercises to help that hip, knee and foot work together as a unit.
They are passive and active corrective movements that help realign the spine and major joints in the body, to bring balance and symmetry not present from parts of the body that stopped functioning, and from over-working other parts of the body that as a consequence, started compensating, doing that extra work.
 

Our joints and spine tend to get stuck in a position where a shoulder can be higher or more elevated than the other causing a chain reaction to our hips, knees and ankles, or the pelvis can be rotated forward on one side more than the other, causing the posture to be misalign and with time cause pain.
